Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Study Groups:

Kyusho Jitsu South Africa has a number of Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Training Study Groups all over South Africa, Namibia and Wales. These Study Groups are headed up by Kyusho Aiki Jutsu enthusiasts who are Instructors in training with Kyusho Aiki Jutsu International curriculum under the guidance of Kyusho Jitsu South Africa. Training and seminars are held with these study groups on a regular basis to ensure quality control and proper transfer of skills and knowledge. Regular studies are conducted on variety of Kyusho Aiki Jutsu related topics in which deeper understanding is obtained in a variety of advanced aspects of the Art.

Gradings and certifications take place three to four times per year and is regulated in terms of the Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Curriculum time and skill level requirements. Certification to 1st Dan Blackbelt Instructor Level in terms of the Kyusho Aiki Jutsu curriculum i.e. Level 1 - 10 takes on average three years of dedicated training, which is dependant on demonstration of in depth understanding and application of Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Technique. Certification from 1st dan and above is tested by Grandmaster Toni Kauhanen during his annual seminar visit.

Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Certification Centurion - 17 April 2010

On Saturday, 18 April 2010 the monthly 2.5 hour Kyusho Aiki Jutsu training session was followed by a certification session of another 1.5 hours at the Combat Gym in Centurion. The certifying members met the strict Kyusho Aiki Jutsu International Curriculum requirements, with all grading members having accumulated certifiable training hours of between 25 and 40 hours (4 – 6 months training) for their Level 1 – Revivals and Arm Points. The certification requirements include a required dedicated KAJ training hours, understanding of the relevant Level’s pressure points from both a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine (WM) perspective, and most importantly demonstrate the ability to apply and target the relevant points under stress in practical combat scenarios (moving, multiple opponents and stationery) ranging from striking, grabbing and grappling instances.

In order to certify in Level 1 which forms the basis for the rest of the curriculum, members are required to show proficiency in basic combat i.e. movement, striking, breathing etc. which are built on into the higher levels.
