Seminar and Training in Germany 2009

During October 2009 Andre Dippenaar spent two weeks in Europe attending Kyusho Aiki Jutsu seminars and training with Grandmaster Toni Kauhanen and Master Karsten Dam. The trip started off in Frankfurt with Holger Weychardt and his folks. We then travelled up to Guthersloh with Dennis to attend a seminar with GM Toni Kauhanen and Master Karsten Dam on the Saturday. The Sunday was spent sight seeing around Guthersloh with Grandmaster Toni Kauhanenen and Toni Mikkilä, a Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Instructor from Jyväskylä, Finland. The seminar host, Herbert Zielinski of Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Germany took us around to see various places including Extersteine are a distinctive rock formation located in the Teutoburger Wald region of northwestern Germany.

The formation consists of several tall, narrow columns of rock which rise abruptly from the surrounding wooded hills. Externsteine is a natural outcropping of five sandstone pillars, the tallest of which is 37.5 meters high and form a wall of several hundred meters length, in a region that is otherwise largely devoid of rocks. The pillars have been modified and decorated by humans over the centuries. The geological formation consists of a hard, erosion-resistant sandstone, laid down during the early Cretaceous era about 120 million years ago, near the edge of a large shallow sea that covered large parts of Northern Europe at the time. The Externsteine were a center of religious activity for the Teutonic peoples and their predecessors prior to the arrival of Christianity in Northern Europe.

Training and Certification with Grandmaster Toni Kauhanen in Finland 2009

He then travelled back from Guthersloh with Grand Master Kauahenen and Toni and flew up to Helsinki from where we took a four and a half hour drive up to Äänekoski to where Toni Kauhanen lives. There he spent the next ten days training extensively with Grandmaster Kauhenen and bridging the syllabus between the Kyusho International and Kyusho Aiki Jutsu International curriculum which he had been studying for the past five years. Basic Aiki principals and in depth study of the Combat Defense Techniques (CDT's) were covered. During this trip Andre was tested and certified by Grandmaster Toni Kauhanen to First Dan Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Instructor. He is now allow to teach and certify his students for Levels 1 - 10 of the Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Curriculum.

Toni kindly took me around for some sight seeing, and also arranged for me a flip in an microlight over the the town and surrounding lake areas of Äänekoski which was incredible! I then took a four hour train ride back to Helsinki and flew from there into Copenhagen.

Training with Master Karsten Dam in Denmark 2009

From Copenhagen I took the a four hour train ride to Esjberg, and headed directly to Master Karsten Dojo at the Esjberg Karate Club. I spent the evening doing my Reiki II course which was an incredible experience. The next two days I spent training in the mornings with the Morning Team at the club, and the advanced senior Kyusho Aiki Jutsu training during the evenings. We also did some canoeing and sight seeing around.

International Kyusho Convention Thonon Le Bains, France November 2006

In November 2006 I travelled to Thonon Le Bains, France to attend the annual International Kyusho Convention. This was a two day even which was well attended. It was here where I met Master Karsten Dam for the first time, and would be the beginning of a great friend and mentorship which eventually led to my decision to affiliate with Kyusho Aiki Jutsu International in 2009.

First South African Kyusho Seminar with Grandmaster Evan Pantazi in 2005

In May 2005 Kyusho Jitsu South Africa hosted the first ever Kyusho Jitsu seminar in South Africa and the African Continent. The seminar was held at the VW Conference Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg and was attended by 120 martial arts enthusiasts from all over the country. This was the beginning of my Kyusho Jitsu journey which subsequently took me to many places over the world and has changed and impacted significantly to various aspects of my life. The way I understood and looked at the martial arts from that day forward would change forever.
