Training Sessions

Kyusho Aiki Jutsu training sessions are held regularly at various Kyusho Training Study Groups around Southern Africa. A three hour training session is held during the middle Saturday of each month at the Bryanston Sports Club in Bryanston, Sandton. This session serves as an introductory session for beginners and people interested in joining the organisation. Similar introductionary sessions can be arranged with the relevant areas study group leaders. A separate group training session are also held for advanced members. Kyusho Aiki Jutsu training sessions are strictly open only to advanced martial arts practitioners, with a minimum of four years martial arts or similar experience requirement (holding at a minimum the equivalent of a first Dan). Regrettably sessions are not open to novices or persons under the age of 18 years.

 

Affiliation & Training Costs

Cost to attend the introductory three hour Saturday session amounts to R100 per session. After two training sessions membership is compulsory.

Members Training Session Bundle Costs

Members can purchase training session bundles as follows:

  • 5 x training sessions = R425 (R85 per session)

  • 10 x training sessions = R750 (R75 per session)

  • 15 x training sessions = R975 (R65 per session)

All income from training sessions are strictly used in the promotion of Kyusho Aiki Jutsu i.e. covering of venue costs, seminars with Masters etc.

Membership & Affiliation Requirements

The requirements to affiliate to Kyusho Jitsu South Africa are as follows:

  • Minimum age of member has to be at least 18 years;

  • Minimum training of four years in traditional martial arts (1st dan equivalent);

  • Only persons of good standing and character;

  • Member should attend a minimum of 12 training sessions per annum i.e. members should contribute to the study, research and understanding of Kyusho Aiki Jutsu on a regular basis. Should members not meet the minimum training sessions their membership terminates and will only under special circumstances be considered for re-affiliation;

Annual affiliation costs = R150 per annum (runs Jan – Dec). Membership costs are apportioned from the beginning of the relevant month to the end of the year. This includes a Kyusho Aiki Jutsu badge. First time members are required to purchase a training Kyusho Jitsu SA T-Shirt at R100 and a members handbooks at R250.


Kyusho Aiki Jutsu Certification Centurion - 17 April 2010

On Saturday, 18 April 2010 the monthly 2.5 hour Kyusho Aiki Jutsu training session was followed by a certification session of another 1.5 hours at the Combat Gym in Centurion. The certifying members met the strict Kyusho Aiki Jutsu International Curriculum requirements, with all grading members having accumulated certifiable training hours of between 25 and 40 hours (4 – 6 months training) for their Level 1 – Revivals and Arm Points. The certification requirements include a required dedicated KAJ training hours, understanding of the relevant Level’s pressure points from both a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine (WM) perspective, and most importantly demonstrate the ability to apply and target the relevant points under stress in practical combat scenarios (moving, multiple opponents and stationery) ranging from striking, grabbing and grappling instances.

In order to certify in Level 1 which forms the basis for the rest of the curriculum, members are required to show proficiency in basic combat i.e. movement, striking, breathing etc. which are built on into the higher levels.
